Smithfield Baptist Church (SBC) in Smithfield, VA is seeking a Director of Music who will be
responsible to the Senior Pastor in planning, conducting and evaluating a comprehensive music
ministry for the members and guests of SBC. He or she will be responsible for managing the
appropriate selection and delivery of music for both the Open Door service at 8:30 and the Traditional
worship service at 11:00 along with the direction of the SBC Adult Choir. He or she must feel led by
God to this area of ministry with a heart for music. The incumbent must have a strong musical
background, spiritually motivated, creative and one who sees the music program as a ministry for
God’s glory. He or she must possess as a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree In Music from an accredited
college or university. The incumbent must have proven leadership and interpersonal skills to lead the
SBC music program and have experience in sight-reading vocal and instrumental music. The ideal
candidate will be able to effectively execute the SBC Music Program. This is a permanent, part-time
position.
